This topic has been written about separately in Polish in an earlier post.  This is an explanation for international guests.

Since 15th February 2024 there has been a new law in force which requires all hotels, bed and breakfasts, guesthouses and agrotourism places to establish the relationship between adults and underage children travelling with them.

This means that we are called upon to get you to document the IDs of the kids as well, and to enable some form of help if any kids are being kidnapped or being abused sexually.

Obviously it is very difficult for an untrained person to get this right, even the police have difficulty in judging situations and the last thing any hotelier wants to do is insult his guests by making them feel he thinks they are some kind of paedophile.  So the law asks us to do this check whenever children and adults are staying with us. Even though we know that 99% are going to be perfectly happy families, it’s the 1% that the good shepherd leaves the rest to seek that we are concerned with here, and the only way to do it without offence is to apply the same enquiry in all the cases. That’s not as offensive as picking and choosing would be, even though we understand it’s not a nice topic.  We hope it won’t undermine the feeling of welcome you have a right to expect at Agroletnica.

For those reading this who are either children or females who have been kidnapped and trafficked for modern slavery in the sex industry and you need help, you should feel confident about asking us for help. We’ve never felt scared of helping, the police and our private security are just a phone call away, we have plenty of cameras on the premises and the gate you came through on the way in is not going to let the average car out even if it is rammed at full speed, it’s really well made.  Your abuser has brought you to the right place. (Well, the wrong place for him of course, or her, in those very rare cases).

So if you need help then simply identify yourself as someone being abused and we will take care of the formalities.  You won’t be the first we have helped, or the last, God willing.

And if someone doesn’t like that, find somewhere else to stay, somewhere that doesn’t know the new law or chooses to ignore it. We don’t care if you don’t like it, we are going to help those who need this kind of help and for once in a long time a law comes along that is actually helpful and can do some good.

W sumie to daje nam pewne obowiązki, miedzy innymi ustalić relację pomiędzy małoletnim dzieckiem i dorosłymi, z którymi nocuje.

To jest oczywiście obrażająca sprawa dla rodzica, który może myśleć „czy ja wyglądam jak pedofil, czy coś?” i właśnie ta obraza może być faktycznie uzasadniona, jeżeli tylko wybiorczo pytamy  relacjach. Dlatego właśnie musiał ten przepis być tak sformułowany, że każdy który podróżuje z małoletnim jest zapytany, dlatego nie jest to równoznacznie podejrzenia danej osoby.

I tak zawsze mieli większość hotelarze na uwadze, czy do nich przychodzi para gdzie jedna z osób jest eksploatowana, czy przez nieletność, czy przez brak mentalnej pełnosprawności, czy przez trafficking.

Jeżeli chodzi o naszym hoteliku, jeżeli ktokolwiek tu jest w tej sytuacji i zgłasza do nas swoją potrzebę uwolnienia od trafficking’u bądz innego wykorzystywania seksualnego lub użycia przemocy, będzie od razu pod ochroną i nie będzie szansa aby ten człowiek uciekł bez wyjaśnienia sprawy przez naszą lokalną policję. Nasza policja jest szyba, sprawna, profesjonalna. Jednym słowem – imponująca, w naszym doświadczeniu. Mamy również prywatną ochronę. I nasza brama jest bardzo mocna, nie ma ucieczki. Więc spokojnie można się wrócić do nas o pomoc – już nie jedna tak zrobiła.

The Polish Tourism Organisation, the body established by the Government for the promotion of touriism in Poland, has awarded us a certification for two categories, as you can see if you look at the pdf available here:

1. Tourism without barriers is in recognition of our investment in adaptations for wheelchair users and other handicapped guests. With wheelchair ramps, chairlifts, walkers, rails and other adaptations all designed by Elena for her own needs, we have the kind of hotel she wanted, but was unable to find.
2. Rural tourism is in view of our accent on local producers and a green, sustainable approach to tourism. We have a high level of recycling going on and the products of our own waste sorting are an improvement on average, as we separately aggregate paper and card, plastic bottles (crushed), glass, aluminium cans (crushed), other plastics and metals. And we also compost to the max while seeking to reduce waste. It is also in view of the fact that here tourists can come face to face with nature: animals, birds, reptiles and insects as well as all manner of plants and fungi.

We don’t try to do everything and be everything to everybody, here at Agroletnica. We are the exact right place for some people, and if you are looking for something else then that’s OK, we wish you luck in finding it. Please understand we cannot be the ideal place for people looking for the above and also the ideal place for people looking for something quite different. We hope people will choose their holiday destinations wisely and be aware of what we offer and don’t offer.
